Many visitors say it is worth the airfare to see Moorea's spectacular bays. It is a quick 10 minute flight in an 8 seater plane. This is where most people want to go for their honeymoon vacation package.

The volcanic peaks, reflected in the tranquil waters of Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay, rise like a shark's jaw from the island's basaltic base. The mountain slopes are covered with pineapple plantations, and white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons. After only a few days, you will discover that Moorea has filled you with peace, delight and a wonderful sense of happiness.

This island offers a lot of different activities, such as hiking, kayaking, Belvedere point, swimming with the Dolphins at the Intercontinental, Papetoai Temple , Tropical Aquarium, beautiful waterfalls and much more.  There also some very nice Restaurants on the island:  Alfredo's, Le Mahogany, Te Honu Itu, Le Cocotier just to name a few.

There will be a new 18 hole golf course that will open in 2008, something to look forward to.

Winner of the Conde Nast award in 2005. The Garden Bungalow with the private plunge pool now has a stone wall and wood fence to increase the privacy. Whatever you do, make sure you bring mosquito repellent! The Overwater bungalows are your best choice here and are very nice but not offer much privacy, you can see your neighbors. The overwater bungalow is romantic! The resort does offer complimentary shuttle to most Restaurants, I found the meals at this hotel to be very expensive. Venture out to lunch or dinner. There is a grocery store within walking distance to pick up some goodies. There is also a patisserie where you can buy fresh crescents and coffee for about $12 USD.  

There is a very small beach in front of the hotel and a nice pool area. Chairs are hard to get a peak time but the pool is comfortably warm. I didn't care for the view of overwater bungalows instead of the open water from the pool. But it is romantic and relaxing.

I would recommend the garden bungalow with the plunge pool for ultimate in privacy. I like the beach bungalows because they are away from the hustle and bustle of the pool and restaurant. This is one of the few hotels that offer 4 adults in one room. Their family rooms are hotel rooms with a loft. They are back on the property closer to the road but with the air conditioner running you really can't hear the traffic.

Renting a car for one or two days gives you the chance to see the island. I would wait until I got there to decide on this. There is a car rental that is very reliable right across the street from the property called Albert’s. Albert practically owns the island and everyone seems to be related to him!

4X4 photo safari offers some awesome views of the island and Cook's Bay. It is a half day excursion and worth the time to really see the natives and their habitat. Magic Mountain has the best views and a very scary jeep trip up to the top. The last 50 yards you have to walk. Be sure to take a backpack with suntan lotion, bug spray and water with you on ALL excursions!
