Most people never think of large hotels as romantic. I was able to visit the RIU Palace Mexico in the Riviera Maya. What a wonderful hotel. Riu Palace Mexico abounds with European flourishes; hand painted murals, floral ceilings rimmed in gold, and a tiny Spanish chapel. The chapel is in the main lobby and a great alternative to the beach for a wedding. There is a large gazebo in the middle of the courtyard that can also be used for wedding. Splashing fountains, statues, gazebos and wrought iron benches rest in a romantic courtyard beneath the shade of towering palms, while sprays of bougainvillea adorn slanted sun-shelters by two magnificent pools.
The beach is large with white sand and beautiful turquoise blue water. Many water activities are available along with dozens of chairs. No need to get up early to save a seat here.
The gardens are well maintained an fountains adorn the corridors. The spa offers full services along with an air conditioned work out center.
This is a great destination for someone looking for the grandeur of a large hotel with a little more intimacy on the side!
