1. Age 50 and Ready for Adventure
As millions of baby boomers nationwide hit the big FIVE–O, they're changing long-held perceptions of how 50-plus travelers vacation and are in the process of redefining the industry.
Today's 50-plus traveler is not your stereotypical senior citizen found blissfully sipping a mai tai at the pool. Quite the contrary, unlike their parents, 50-plus travelers are "ready to rock" and are looking for excitement and adventure in life. Simply put, they are an entirely new breed of traveler seeking first-time activities, educational experiences and cultural exploration.
Baby boomers age 50-plus roughly represent more than half of the 78 million Americans born in the U.S. between 1946 and 1964. They are today's largest, most dynamic, and fastest growing segment of the U.S. travel industry. Though most of these sophisticated travelers have traveled to exotic destinations worldwide, studies suggest they have plenty of travel dreams yet to realize.
ResortQuest Hawaii can help fulfill those dreams in the beautiful Islands of Aloha at any one of its 27 hotels and condominium resorts statewide. ResortQuest Hawaii offers the perfect place to stay to experience "Our Hawaii, Your Way" with a wide array of accommodations. On Oahu, guests can choose between elegant or trendy, opt for romance, or select a bargain. On Maui, select an oceanfront location for a sunset cocktail to toast the end of day in paradise on your private lanai, or perhaps a fully equipped three-bedroom condominium would be preferred to house a multigenerational family. On the Island of Hawaii, private golf-front villas are surrounded by world-class golf courses set amid ancient lava flows. Kauai offers accommodations in four distinct locations throughout the island, all on or near the beach. Guests can experience a newly renovated beachfront hotel or historic seaside cottages set in a coconut grove.
Whether its 50-plus couples traveling together, a group reunion, or a multigenerational family vacation, ResortQuest Hawaii offers an assortment of hotel rooms, condominium suites, villas and cottages with a diverse range of amenities for just about anyone's needs.
For more information on accommodations, visit RQHawaii5-O.com.

2. ResortQuest Hawaii Launches HAWAII 5-O Program
Reminiscent of the days when the name "Jack Lord" conjured up images of Hawaii and the phrase "book-um Danno," ResortQuest Hawaii proudly launches its new "HAWAII 5-O Program" for 50-plus travelers seeking some Hawaiian nostalgia and an action-packed vacation to fully experience all the islands have to offer.
The Hawaii 5-O Program offers preferred discounts in select room categories at 23 of ResortQuest Hawaii's resort condominiums and hotels on the Islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii. From now until January 1, 2007, ResortQuest Hawaii guests age 50 and above can take advantage of special rates in select room categories simply by requesting the "HAWAII 5-O Program." In addition, guests receive "exclusive extras" at participating properties like room upgrades and arrival amenities including wine, champagne, free dessert or a special gift. To qualify, guests simply present a valid ID at check-in to confirm their eligibility.
Fifty-plus travelers will find the HAWAII 5-O Program especially enjoyable due to ResortQuest Hawaii's diverse selection of hotels, condominium suites, cottages and villas that suit any lifestyle, taste or budget.
Whether a traveling grandparent with grandkids, an empty nester looking to finally take that vacation of a lifetime, or a "born to be wild" baby boomer craving some Hawaiian adventure, ResortQuest Hawaii understands 50-plus travelers have interests as diverse as our properties!
Best of all, ResortQuest Hawaii's value-packed Aloha Book, presented complimentary at check-in at all properties, is each guest's passport to exploring the Islands with offers on island cuisine, cultural and historical attractions, golf and recreation, and much more.
Hawaii is the perfect destination for active 50-plus travelers seeking fun and adventure. Whether they explore museums or monuments, dine at small local eateries, trek out on a nature hike, go horseback riding on the beach, or learn about Hawaii's unique culture, there's something for everyone. It's enough to make you say, "book-um ResortQuest!"

3. Condo Suites Offer Luxury of Space
Generally, "spacious" is not a word that comes to mind when booking typical travel accommodations. Most travelers are happy to get a nice room at a property with good service. However, travelers can rejoice in knowing that at ResortQuest Hawaii — the foremost provider of hotel and condominium resort properties in Hawaii — we not only offer guests outstanding service and amenities, but an array of roomy two- and three-bedroom suites to satisfy every traveler's needs.
ResortQuest Hawaii is the only lodging chain in the islands with an extensive inventory of spacious two- and three-bedroom suites perfect for multigenerational families, golf buddies, group reunions, and destination events. Such accommodations are available at an impressive 16 properties statewide at ResortQuest Hawaii.
As an added benefit to large groups traveling together, ResortQuest Hawaii condominiums can accommodate between six to eight people per suite, eliminating the need to pay for several connecting hotel rooms or rack up additional charges for extra people in the room. Units feature large living areas with outstanding beachfront, golf-front, or mountain views in two- or three-bedroom configurations. There's lots of privacy among occupants with the luxury of separate bedrooms, plus the added convenience of a fully equipped kitchen, in-room washer and dryer, and private lanai.
ResortQuest Hawaii's two- and three-bedroom suites await travelers at these fine resorts:

4. Fourth of July "Sunset on the Beach" in Waikiki
ResortQuest Hawaii proudly presents its third annual "Fourth of July" weekend at Waikiki's renowned "Sunset on the Beach" event on Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2, 2006. The event is presented in partnership with the City & County of Honolulu, Waikiki Improvement Association, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
The fun an excitement begins at 5 p.m. daily with local and traditional Hawaiian entertainment featuring top island bands and hula performances, on-stage consumer games, and ResortQuest Hawaii trivia games and prizes. As a special treat, on Saturday, July 1, the men and women of the U.S. Marine Corp Band will present an arrangement of patriotic songs to celebrate the holiday weekend. As dusk rolls in, each night's blockbuster motion picture will entertain an audience of more than 5,000. This is a wonderful event for everyone — especially families who'd like to experience movies under the stars!
In addition, visitors can also enjoy some of Hawaii's best multicultural cuisine at the event with a full array of local and international foods — including Hawaiian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italian, American, and many others!
ResortQuest Hawaii's 10 Waikiki hotels and condominium resorts offer visitors the perfect place to stay with many conveniently located close to Kuhio Beach. Best of all, the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel offers the best place to go after the movie (right across the street) for great Hawaiian-style appetizers, signature cocktails, and more musical entertainment at the popular Tiki's Grill & Bar!

5. Aloha Book Spotlight: Hans Hedemann Surf School
ResortQuest Hawaii presents guests with a myriad of unique island experiences through its "Aloha Book," which is presented complimentary at check-in at all 27 ResortQuest Hawaii properties statewide. It contains exclusive offers for guests and is a guide to some of the best culture, history, cuisine and attractions in the Islands. The Aloha Book shares some of Hawaii's favorite places to hang out or hang loose and is meant to share "Our Hawaii, Your Way."
For many visitors to Hawaii — whether it's their first trip to the Islands or their 20th — a vacation in Hawaii wouldn't be complete without hitting the surf. Hawaii is the birthplace of the renowned sport of surfing, which was practiced by ancient Hawaiian royalty and spread the world over by legendary Hawaiian waterman and Olympic gold medallist Duke Kahanamoku in the 1920s.
The Island of Oahu is the heart of the surfing world with more "surf breaks" than all the other Hawaiian Islands combined, including a number of famous spots along Waikiki Beach suitable for beginners and experienced alike, as well as the historic breaks of Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, and the Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore that have been immortalized in films and surfing magazines.
Luckily, for those who have never tried surfing or would just like to learn more from an expert, there are surf schools and private instructors able to provide a Hawaiian surf lesson. Hans Hedemann Surf School is one of the top surf schools on Oahu, and has given thousands of vacationers a surfing lesson before they paddled out into the lineup.
ResortQuest Hawaii's Aloha Book offers guests a complimentary Hans Heddemans Surf School T-shirt with the purchase of a group, semi-private, or private two-hour surf session. Lesson times are held daily at 9 a.m., noon, or 3 p.m. and include free Waikiki hotel pickup and drop-off. Reservations are required.

| Romantic places to Sleep One of the most romantic places to sleep, according to Conte Naste, is the Hostellerie de Crillon-Le-Brave. The 2 floor suite 33 at Hostellerie de Crillon-le-Brave near Avignon in the Provence region of France occupies a round tower. Downstairs, the living area has two freestanding bathtubs separated by an ice bucket for the Taittinger. Afterward, guests can walk upstairs to their bed, which is seven feet wide, with a Provencal fabric headboard and Belgian cotton sheets. While reclining, they can look out across the valley to Mont Ventoux, often a stop on the Tour de France.

| Honeymoon Vacation Package Manihi One of my favorite islands in French Polynesia is Manihi. It's near deserted feel makes you relax from the minute you arrive. The main hotel is the Manihi Pearl Resort.
This hotel has the best snorkeling with a reef edge right where the overwater bungalows are located. One side is the lagoon and the other side is the reef. The grounds are simply but the rooms are decorated very tastefully. The beach bungalows have an outdoor shower and netting for the bed.
They have complimentary bike use that you can us to visit around the island. A really fun thing I suggest is to take the bikes to the Runway at sunset enjoy a beautiful view. Nowhere else can you bike ride on a runway. Now they have star gazing on the runway. It gives you a chance to see the Southern Cross. The Big Dipper is visible on the horizon around 8:00pm every night.
They offer a wonderful 1 hour snorkel trip by boat for a "drift" snorkel. There are tons of fish to see so don't forget the underwater camera.
The General Manager is very hands on and is very personable. He is more than happy to help you out with anything!

Tahiti
Honeymoon specialist becomes
Tahiti Tiare specialist after extensive training.
Denver, Colo. May 3, 2006 -- If planning the vacation of a lifetime, or perhaps honeymoon and you wanted to go to an exotic island destination, wouldn’t you want to talk to a live person like a travel agent first? And wouldn’t you want that travel agent to have been there? You would want to talk to someone that has seen the hotels, knows how to get around, knows the different islands and what they have to offer, or where to go to dinner. This is what a Tahiti Tiare Agent is trained for.
Ellen Keralla from Special Occasion Travel in Centennial (
Denver ),
Colorado has taken the time and effort to become a Tahiti Tiare Agent – a trained specialist in
Tahiti .
“The Tahiti Tiare program is tough, but when you finish you really know the destination,” says Keralla. “A lot of people have a life-long dream of going to
Tahiti . So they do a lot of research. But then when they go to book their trip they discover that they really need the help of a travel agent. An agent that has been to
Tahiti .”
The Tahiti Tiare program is an intensive training program that
Tahiti ’s national tourist office offers to travel agents. Agents don’t get certified until they attend a half-day workshop to learn about the destination and vacation options. Then they have to go to another seminar, put on by a
Tahiti tour operator or cruise line. They must also take a trip to
Tahiti and Her Islands and experience the country first hand. And there’s more. They have to sell four trips, demonstrating that they can successfully put together and sell
Tahiti Vacations….repeatedly.
Keralla says that being a Tahiti Tiare Agent has given her the ability to make people’s dreams come true. But it has also shown her how to identify clients for whom
Tahiti might not be the ideal vacation spot. Says Keralla, “
Tahiti is not for everyone. If somebody’s looking for night life or nonstop extreme sports, I gently recommend other places to visit.”
But for travelers seeking a unique getaway to a place of heart stopping beauty,
Tahiti and Her Islands is the place. “There is no more romantic place for a honeymoon or anniversary. But that’s not all. There are wonderful cruises throughout the islands. There is also world class scuba diving and yachting. No matter what you do on your trip, you get to experience the genuine warmth of the Polynesian people. I’d say that is one of the most remarkable things about traveling to this destination.”

| Things to do in the US 5/5/2006 10:55:59 AM Link | | Add commentTravel Tips In land as vast as North America, you can bet the opportunities for local events are just as big. From food to film, cultural to crazy, there's truly something for everyone. Here's just a sampling:
May 31 - June 4, 2006 The Montreal Beer Festival A five-day beer festival billed as the largest international beer festival in North America. Taste beer from all the big breweries as well as hundreds of smaller ones, including beer from five different continents - all without ever leaving North America.
July 19 - 23, 2006 The American Black Film Festival More than 2,500 movie aficionados gather in Miami for five inspiring days jammed with premieres, workshops, panels, live entertainment, awards, and more.
Memorial Day Weekend World Championship Kinetic Sculpture Race Participants use wacky, imaginative contraptions or machines that must be entirely human powered to cover the 38-mile racecourse that stretches from Ferndale, California, to Arcata, California. Finishing in first place isn't as important as just surviving or winning one of the other strange awards based on costumes, themes, and more.

| InterContinental Resort & Thalasso Spa Bora Bora Countdown Begins |
The new luxury hotel is still planning to open on May 1. They have built 2.4 km (about 1.5 miles) of pipe from the reef of the island to reach a depth of 915 meters (half mile).
The hotel indicates that it is the deepest ocean pipe in the world. The very cold deep-sea water is pumped through a titanium heat exchanger, which transfers the cold into the fresh water circuit that conveys into air conditioning for the hotel. This procedure will enable the hotel to save 90% of its electricity consumption. At the same time, the system helps to protect the eco-system and reinforces seawater recycling. Since the deep-sea water is known for its purity, it will also used for the hotel's Deep Ocean Spa, which will open on September 1, 2006 (in the meantime, the resort will offer spa services).
The resort is ready to welcome its first guests on May 1, and when all of the main services will be fully operational: the overwater villas, restaurants, bars, swimming pool, and boutique. Some minor work on the premises will continue during the opening stage and we can't wait to see the opening of the wedding chapel, and the Deep Ocean Spa in September. Other news about the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts: InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora is scheduled to re-open on June 1, 2006. All of the beach bungalows, the overwater bungalows on the latest extension (located on the right of the hotel map), the swimming pool, the restaurant and the bar will be completed and ready by June 1st. The 20 overwater bungalows, which are located closest to the beach (left on the map), will also be completed. However the overwater bungalows located on the most remote part of the lagoon will still be under construction.
The hotel has taken precautions to assure the safety and peaceful atmosphere for their guest despite this inconvenience. Please check with your Preferred Tour Operator for further details or directly with the InterContinental Resorts and Hotels.
