Special Occasion Travel

Before you think about merging your bank accounts, buying a house or combining your health insurance, it is important to have a money talk with your spouse/fiance. Many people have trouble talking about money because money usually represents more than just dollars and cents. Money has an emotional load associated with it too. Communication is key to talk about your financial history and attitudes. Are you a spendor or saver? Set up a budget to meet your daily needs and be sure to include the "extras" that are important to both of you.

Honeymoon Travel - RIU Palace Mexico

Mexico Honeymoon
Ellen Keralla

Most people never think of large hotels as romantic. I was able to visit the RIU Palace Mexico in the Riviera Maya. What a wonderful hotel. Riu Palace Mexico abounds with European flourishes; hand painted murals, floral ceilings rimmed in gold, and a tiny Spanish chapel. The chapel is in the main lobby and a great alternative to the beach for a wedding. There is a large gazebo in the middle of the courtyard that can also be used for wedding.
Splashing fountains, statues, gazebos and wrought iron benches rest in a romantic courtyard beneath the shade of towering palms, while sprays of bougainvillea adorn slanted sun-shelters by two magnificent pools.

The beach is large with white sand and beautiful turquoise blue water. Many water activities are available along with dozens of chairs. No need to get up early to save a seat here.

The gardens are well maintained an fountains adorn the corridors. The spa offers full services along with an air conditioned work out center.

This is a great destination for someone looking for the grandeur of a large hotel with a little more intimacy on the side!

Karisma Hotels

While in Cancun, I visited El Dorado Royale. On the property they have a very cute chapel. With the doors wide open one can see the ocean and beach beyond. What a wonderful way to be married, with the sounds of the ocean in the background.

Sometimes beach weddings can be too windy or hot. This property offers an alternative by having a chapel so close to the beach. Check it out for yourself then call me to book your wedding at El Dorado Royale. Website for this property is www.karismahotels.com.

If you have a large destination wedding, you can rent out the whole resort at Mi Hotelito. Intimate and beachfront. Active and relaxed. Rustic and luxurious at the same time. Luxurious, since it is small, intimate and provides outstanding services and a cuisine experience normally found at much larger hotels. Things like personalized butler service and concierge, or a champagne check in. Rustic, because it is not pretentious and was built using traditional materials and with the philosophy of embracing the bounty of the nature and the local environment. It lies directly on the beach of Maroma, considered to be one of the best beaches in the world by independent reviewers, including the Discovery Channel. With only 24 rooms, spread into two buildings, the hotel is located right next to Marina Maroma which offers Deep Sea Fishing, motor boats and a wide variety of water sports and other activities only steps away from your room. Mi Hotelito Hotel & Beach Resort entails the ingredients for an active, authentic, and luxurious Mexican vacation experience. It caters to couples and families looking for an active vacation, personalized service, exquisite cuisine, and unforgettable adventures.

Mi Hotelito lies on the Riviera Maya just 40 Minutes south of Cancun Airport, 10 minutes north of Playa del Carmen and 15 minutes from the Playacar Golf Club.

Honeymoon Travel - Italy - Verona

Best Experience
Special Occasion Travel
As we plunge headlong into Cupid’s grasp this February, we are reminded of Italy’s most romantic city—Verona. It only takes one visit here to understand why Shakespeare placed his star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, squarely within its realm.

With the soft sun reflecting the pink marble of Verona’s streets and squares, and the soothing waters of the Adige River snaking through the city, it’s easy to fall into Verona’s trance. Regional wines even fall into the Valentine’s theme, with the crisp white wines of Soave and their smooth red Valpolicella cousins ready to please the palate and warm the soul.

And what could be more romantic than an evening under the stars at Verona’s ancient Roman arena? The Opera Festival delights thousands of visitors each summer, the sounds of Carmen, Aida, and Madame Butterfly echoing into the night. With music like this in the air, surely Verona is the spot for both star-crossed lovers and life-long Valentines alike.
